Bentonite clay is composed of volcanic ash that contains a ton of minerals. What makes it so great is the clay's negative charge. It's all good... That doesn't mean it holds a large collection of Edgar Allen Poe novels, owns way too much black and jams too hard to "Love Hurts". It means that it attracts the positively charged molecules of toxins on your skin! This is not a new science. Anthropologists learned that the use of clay stems far back in history as a traditional healing method for protecting the body from disease. When combined with water and left to dry on the skin as a clay mask, the clay is able to bind to bacteria and toxins living on the surface of the skin and within pores to extract these from the pores. This helps to reduce the outbreak of blemishes, alleviate redness, and also to fight allergic reactions from irritating lotions or face washes. It also helps your skin breath! STOP SUFFICATING YOUR SKIN! Let the Bella shine! :)
Coffee is a natural antioxidant and researchers have found that even spent coffee grounds (which is what we use in our scrubs) is abundant in polyphenol antioxidants which may prevent or delay some types of cell damage. Coffee also contains phytosterols, which promote moisture retention keeping your skin looking bright and it even supplies chemical-free sun protection. The caffeine actively works to reduce the appearance of cellulite. That's right, the caffeine in coffee when applied to the body works to dehydrate fatty cells to ensure that water will disappear in the surface of your skin. Using coffee as a scrub regularly helps the skin look smoother overall.

LAVENDER: Lavender oil is antibacterial (as are Basil and Rosemary oil), but Lavender is great for soothing red inflamed skin. It’s an excellent ingredient to drop into acne recipes.

PEPPERMINT: Peppermint oil is a good home remedy for nausea and headaches and is often applied directly to the forehead. Inhaling peppermint oil can eliminate the effects of nausea and motion sickness, simply because of its relaxing and soothing effects. OILS AND BUTTERS:
COCONUT OIL: We use Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil which happens to be very rich in antioxidants that prevent free radical formation. Free radicals cause skin to lose elasticity among other things (and coconut oil helps to reduce this) Coconut oil is also antibacterial and antifungal, which is beneficial for maintaining clear skin. Coconut Oil penetrates deep into underlying tissues that most moisturizers can’t reach.
COCOA BUTTER: Cocoa butter is rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids. It is often used to soothe dry skin, rashes, eczema, scars, stretch marks, and psoriasis.
SHEA BUTTER: Shea Butter is a skin superfood that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. This decadent moisturizer contains cinnamic acid, which absorbs UVB rays. It is generally thought to have an SPF of around 6 depending on how refined it is or how fresh the product is. Shea butter contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying and helps to moisturize the skin.
BEESWAX: We love bees and get our beeswax from ethical bee farmers on the west coast. Because we only use natural ingredients we use Beeswax to help keep our lip balms firm. Beeswax also adds a protective barrier to skin that locks in moisture.
VITAMIN E: This anti-oxidant is thought to smooth skin and reduce wrinkles. Free radicals are believed to play an important role in skin aging and therefore the antioxidant activity in Vitamin E is quite valuable in helping to reduce the signs of aging. From a more practical standpoint, it extends the shelf life of lotion bars by preventing oils and butters from becoming rancid prematurely.
